ABOUT THE
ARTIST

Billy Corcuera is a resilient artist whose journey was shaped by adversity. He initially left high school to support his family through construction work, but his passion for art led him to transition to painting. Although he faced financial challenges early in his art career, he continued to pursue his craft while working overseas for nearly a decade. Upon returning to Angeles City, Billy focused on establishing himself as a commercial artist, specializing in floral, nature-inspired works, and commissioned portraits. His practical approach to commercial art allowed him to balance personal projects with stable income. Billy emphasizes professionalism, integrity, and diligence as key to an artist’s success. Through his work, he continues to inspire others, demonstrating that art is a powerful tool for overcoming life's challenges.
ART STYLE &
INSPIRATION

Billy Corcuera started as a gold master artist in commercial art, where artists were undervalued and had limited budgets. He often created reproductions of famous works at the request of clients. While commercial artists can sell their paintings quickly, they are often seen as less valuable. Billy, however, believes commercial artists excel in skill, especially in sales. He supports his family through art despite not finishing high school and works as a full-time artist. He joined groups like GAMAT, where he teaches art at affordable prices, shares his process through live demonstrations, and helps other artists get opportunities. Billy's paintings are priced high, but he faces financial challenges, relying on his art for his family's needs. He also works on glass art and tattoos and has a background in advertising. His inspiration comes from his family, as he works hard to support them.

- BILLY CORCUERA
"I believe anyone can pursue art, no matter their profession, as long as their work holds personal meaning. For me, art started as a means of survival—I once sold balut just to afford painting supplies. But over time, it became my true passion. Now, as a full-time artist, I take pride in my craft and the journey that got me here. With the support of my father and my group, I’ve honed my skills and learned techniques like creating textures. I also love teaching and sharing affordable, accessible methods so others can grow in their own artistic journey."
